Aims and Objectives
In the interests of differentiation and enrichment the aim of the Academic Academy is to provide students with a program of extension and enrichment in their identified areas of ability - namely Mathematics and/or English and/or Science and/or Humanities.
In addition, some students will have the opportunity to:
- Participate in a variety of academic competitions and enrichment activities.
- Accelerate through learning areas where the student is identified as being potentially gifted and talented.
- Commence study of University subject/s or another school-endorsed option in Year 12.
Entry into the Academy
During Semester 2
Year 7, interested students will take part in an entry process that is led by the relevant curriculum area Head of Department for classes to begin at the start of Year 8.
Review processes
Student performance, behaviour and effort will be reviewed by the Heads of Department. Students will be expected to:
Demonstrate a high level of ability in the focus areas of the academy;
Achieve acceptable academic standards in units studied;
Maintain exemplary behaviour and;
Remain highly motivated.
This review process will be conducted by the Head of Department (HOD) and staff within the Academy.
