OneDrive for Students (Cloud Storage)

ONe Drive

From the 21 June 2018, students at Harristown SHS will be able to access Microsoft’s OneDrive for Business through the MIS Gateway.

OneDrive for Business provides a secure place on the internet where school-related files can be stored, shared and synced.

Who will gain access?

Students across all year levels will gain access providing they have at least a 0.1 FTE enrolment at the school.

Each student will gain access to:

  • a OneDrive for Business library with five terabytes of storage per person
  • an expanded suite of Office Online web applications, including OneNote, Word, PowerPoint and Excel.

Advantages for Students

This online storage will allow students to share files with their teachers and peers, and to collaborate in real time on Word, PowerPoint and Excel documents. Students can only share their files and collaborate with people who have an email address. This includes staff and students. Students should only use OneDrive for Business to share and store school related files; those created for the purpose of completing a class activity or assignment.

The storage capacity offers a huge increase on the amount of space currently accessible for students and we expect that many who need to make use of video and sound files will be appreciative of the ability to access and backup large assignments through OneDrive.

Please refer to the OneDrive for Students Guide under the Student Resources page, as it contains important information regarding how to access OneDrive, best-practice advice on using the platform, and information about what files are appropriate for storage within the application.

Microsoft's OneDrive training videos (refer to 'Work or School' subheading) can be used to assist students to provision their OneDrive library and manage and share their files.
