National Anthem: The Ensemble

Acknowledgment of Country: Chloe Gray

Assembly Leaders: Kyle and Tiana

Principal’s address

Mr Green spoke to the following topics:

  • Camp Visits: Year 8 Camp at Leslie Dam, Year 10 Camp near Boonah and the Year 11 Camp at Runaway Bay – the emphasis was on students having fun together. Plan to go to these worthwhile camps by saving money and nominating to go when it is your turn. These Year Level camps will happen at the same time each school year.
  • Attendance: Congratulations to Balkuin who lead Bonda and the other houses by a mere 4 points in the Attendance trophy competition this week.
  • Supporting Diversity: Mr Green’s favourite character, The Phantom, wears purple. This Friday some staff will be wearing purple for State show their support for students in schools in Queensland as LGBTIQ+. Mr Green and others will be pledging support in other ways.
  • Respect: We have a group of people who are not part of our regular teaching staff and we rely on these teachers to answer the call at 6.30am and come in to work for the day. Supply teachers deserve respect. We have a great reputation for welcoming visitors. We have a negative reputation with rudeness towards teachers. What teachers need from students is attitude and actions that communicate respect for the school environment: “I will help”; “I’ll do as you need” and “I will listen.” Healthy hawks do this.

Arts Day

Arts Captains Ryan and Jasmine are anticipating Arts Day

  • Jazz: Hey, Ryan.  How’s your prep for Arts Day coming?
  • Ryan: Not too bad.  Just need to get through QCS and Exam Block then it’s Arts Day all the way.
  • Jazz: Me too.  I can’t wait.  I’ve checked the rules as they have been updated since last year but still need to get an entry form.  Where from again.
  • Ryan: The window outside the G block staffroom.  I’ve already returned mine there.
  • Jazz: Just in case you are unsure of about entering Arts Day, check out these two clips of all the fun from last year.
  • Ryan: Don’t miss out.  Get involved in Arts Day 2018!

MAJR Movement

The MAJR team shared some tips for study and success around exam time:

  • Start your assignments early
  • Be organised
  • Put your phone away
  • Stay away from temptations that take you away from study
  • Stay away from the snooze button

Thanks to Silver Leaders who make an effort each week to help with Assembly.
