Assembly Leaders: Arts prefects, Tesi and Jadzia

Acknowledgment of Country: Hayley Langton

Principal’s Address

Ms Monagle addressed the Assembly with Harry the Hawk.  Harry was asked to remove headphones and Ms Monagle informed the students that headphones are not part of our school uniform and should not be seen.

The Junior Secondary Leaders helped Harry to unjumble letters to reveal the topics for today’s address: the two important aspects of our Learning structure. These aspects, that help students achieve, are compared to the two wings of a Learning Flight Plane.

The first wing is Dimensions of Learning.  The second wing is Explicit Instruction. Together the wings help our teachers engage students so their learning is active. Students need to be part of the plan so they can fly and achieve in their learning.

Julia Winning introduced a performance by the Stage Band of the songs The more I see you and My life. The Stage Band have performed recently at the Jazz Club. Their Artistic Director Mr Camillo Lanzafame joined the Stage Band on stage.

Gold Leaders’ Initiative

Matthew and Caleb spoke about the Gold Leader Initiative, linked this year with the 60th Anniversary Year celebrations. Students enjoyed a video produced by Connor, published on our FaceBook page, that reveals some of the minefield of challenges students will face in the Gold Leader Initiative, Hawk Games. Hawk Games will be held on the top oval in October.

  • Next Wednesday 2nd September both our boys & girls open football teams will be playing in the finals of the Red Lion Cup.  Games will be held at Middle Ridge Park.  Girls final is at 7pm followed by the boys final at 8pm.  These teams would appreciate your support.
  • Best wishes to year 12 students doing the QCS tests next Tuesday & Wednesday.  Other students are asked to stay away from the hall area to give our Year 12s the best opportunity to do well.  Next week’s assembly will be in the blue gym.

The 2015 Gold Leader Initiative was revealed on Assembly today. Hawk Games, involving all students, links with the 60th Anniversary Year celebrations.
