Mr Forknall introduced the National Anthem and acknowledged the students who usually play for us, wishing them luck with Fanfare competition.

Assembly Leaders: Year level Prefects, Noah and Jessica

Acknowledgment of Country: Nicolas Isaacs

Principal’s address: The Wall

Related story of two unwell men, both in hospital. One man had a view out a window while the other could only see a wall. Each day the man with a view would entertain the other patient, telling him about the day he saw through the window. Sadly the man who had the view passed away. After time mourning, the other man asked to move to the window. All he could see was a brick wall. His fellow patient had told him stories to improve his life.  Which character do you most relate to? The person who was jealous or the person who was kind, wanting to make life better for others.

We need to be reminded that in our school community where we respect each other, we need to make choices that model our school values.

Drama Production & Creative Generation (CGen) Captains

Ms Mullins introduced the Drama Production Captains, Maggie Clews and Becky Hitchens and CGen Captains, Molly Ledger and Teanna Hohn.

Becky and Maggie spoke about this year’s drama production, "Gate 38" by Brisbane-based playwright, David Megarrity.  The play is set in an airport with the focus on four groups of young people – what they’re doing and where they’re going. They become trapped at this point of departure as technology fails and contact with the outside world is slowly and mysteriously cut off. Where will they go from here? The drama production will be performed in the theatre from the 10th to 13th August with tickets on sale at P&C shop. We hope that you can join us for “Gate 38” in Term 3.

Teanna described Creative Generation: State Schools on Stage – with Harristown SHS students this year in the stage crew, core and massed choirs, massed dance and massed strings sections. Maddi Cybulski once again has been selected as a Featured Dancer and, for the first time, Brittania Clifford-Pugh will perform in a featured drama role.

There will be an excursion to preview the show on Friday 15th July.  This will be a great opportunity to see your friends on stage but tickets are limited. More details will be on notices later this week.
