Hawk Assembly Notes

Assembly Leaders: Will and Rebecca

Acknowledgment of Country: Hayley Langton

Principal’s address

Mr Green reviewed his first few Assembly addresses and his use of props. His props for this week included a painting of three people at the beach that represents to Mr Green his idea of a holiday. He asked the students to reflect on a quality world view of Harristown SHS. Mr Green has two elements that contribute to his view of our school:

  1. Everyone is here. Not everyone is here all the time. Some Form Classes have higher absences. We need to be here and make sure we aren’t missing out on learning.
  2. Absence of litter.  Mr Green demonstrated putting rubbish in the bin and asked us to make sure we do the easy task of having a litter-free school. Make putting litter in the bin a habit.

Mr Green encouraged students, "Be here. Be spotless."

Zumba Fundraiser

Miss Hollman and Mrs Fraser spoke about the Frinday Night event for 22-year-old local man and friend of Ms Hollman, Jake Simpson, who has terminal cancer. One of his bucket list items is to raise $10000 for Cancer research.

Local Zumba instructors have banded together to hold Jake’s Dance Party fundraiser in the Harristown Auditorium this Friday night. Details are available

  • Students with ID cards $10

  • Plan an itinerary
  • manage their budget
  • organise transport

September 2017 holiday expedition: Vietnam

The expedition allows students to acclimatise to the country, complete a challenge trek and work in a local community on a project as well as have some rest and relaxation.

Parent night is next Thursday 18th February in the Lecture Theatre at 6 pm for parents of students in Year 9, 10 and 11 who will be eligible to travel.
