Interhouse Athletics Carnival

​The Interhouse Athletics Carnival will run on Thursday 28th July, from 12pm onward, and all day Friday 29th July.

Nominations are in and students wishing to challenge for a spot can see their House Coordinators ASAP, if they missed the Athletics trials. Some Houses are still looking for competitors for some events and students are asked to listen to notices for these opportunities and when they close.

Every day counts for attendance and the Athletics Carnival requires student helpers for each event. Students can see Mr Wilkes in Q block to put their name down to assist.

Thursday 28th July

Lessons 1 to 4 will run as normal. All staff and students will make their way to the bottom oval to commence at 12.00 noon.  House areas are as follows:-
 
Barang         - Area closest to Hennessy Street   
Bonda          - Hennessy Street side of the steps to the oval
Dherwain    - Concordia side of the steps to the oval
Balkuin        - Area closest to Concordia

Friday, 29th July

Students are to meet in the house meeting areas listed below when the first bell sounds for the start of form class, for rolls to be marked, wristbands handed out and team lists checked.

On completion of house meetings all students are to move to the area between the tennis courts and the blue gym and line up in their house groups to begin the March Past at 9.10am. March Past order – Balkuin;  Dherwain;  Bonda; Barang

 

Points:   All competitors who complete their event receive points.
Substitutions

Field Events - notify the officials in charge of the event.

Track Events - notify the Lanes Chief at the conclusion of the event.

Clashes: Track events always take precedence over field events.  If a track and a field event clash, report to the field event officials, then compete in the track event, then report back to the field event.
Lane Draw:

BARANG 5 & 1   BONDA 6 & 2      DHERWAIN 3 & 7     BALKUIN 4 & 8

If your name is the first name that appears for your house on the program, you run/jump/throw in the first lane allocated to your house.

If your name is the second on the program, then you run/jump/throw in the second lane allocated to your house.

Track Events: At the conclusion of the event, ALL competitors MUST REMAIN IN THEIR LANE at the finish line until dismissed by the Chief Judge.
Competitors: ALL track competitors MUST wear a house supplied coloured patch when competing. You must compete in appropriate attire i.e. Shorts and running top - NO FANCY DRESS, HEADWEAR, ONESIE’S etc during event. Students are encouraged to wear shoes for all events, however, it is compulsory to wear shoes for Shot Put, Discus, Javelin and Hurdles.
Dress:

Thursday – Students are permitted to wear their sports uniform, school uniform or house shirts (available from the P& C Shop).

Friday - Students are encouraged to dress up in their house theme/colours, or are permitted to wear their sports uniform, school uniform or house shirts (available from the P & C Shop).

Out Of Bounds:

The area above and beyond D Block will be strictly out of bounds to all students after first break on Thursday and after house meetings Friday.  This of course does not apply to those students participating in Javelin.

Students are to use the F Block toilets and drink fountains.

There will be drink stations on the oval.

Please note:  no tents are permitted on the spectator banks

Leave Pass:  Any student needing to leave during the day should follow the normal procedures (go to the office, etc)
