Athletics Carnival Information

​The Interhouse Athletics Carnival is on Thursday 27 July, 12 noon to 3pm, and all day Friday 28 July.

Dress

Thursday – Students are permitted to wear their sports uniform, school uniform or house shirts (available from the P & C Shop).

Friday - Students are encouraged to dress up in their house theme/colours, or are permitted to wear their sports uniform, school uniform or house shirts (available from the P & C Shop).

Organisation

Thursday, 27 July

  • Periods 1 to 4 as usual
  • Break from 11.20am to 12 noon
  • Carnival commences at 12.00 noon 
  • Break from 1.10pm to 1.45pm – Events will continue during the break
  • Thursday events:
    • 1500m for age groups 13 – 19 yrs, 
    • Hurdles for age groups 13 – 19 yrs, 
    • 400 metres for age groups 13 – 19 yrs, 
    • 12 years   High Jump, Discus,  
    • 13  years  Long Jump, Shot Put, 
    •  14 years  Triple Jump, Discus
    •  15 years  Discus, Javelin
    •  16 years  Javelin, High Jump, Long Jump
    •   19 years  Javelin, Shot Put

Friday, 28 July

  • Students are to meet in the house meeting areas listed below when the first bell sounds for the start of form class, for rolls to be marked, wristbands handed out and team lists checked.

  • On completion of House meetings all students are to move to the area between the tennis courts and the blue gym and line up in their house groups to begin the March Past at 9.10am.
  • March Past order - Dherwain;  Bonda;  Barang;  Balkuin
  • Year 12 students will branch off once their houses reach the finish line of the 100m track and assemble on the grassed area near the bus shed to have the Year 12 photograph taken.
  • Any student who arrives late and misses Friday house meetings must report to the office to obtain a late slip and hand this in to the house supervisor to collect a wristband.  Wristbands must remain on all day.

Lunch

  • Houses have been allocated canteen breaks at the following times on Friday:- 
BALKUIN              11am
BARANG              11.10am
BONDA                 11.20am
DHERWAIN         11.30am
 
  • Lunch break will be from 12.45pm – 1.40pm.
  • As per school procedure, students are not permitted to leave the school grounds to collect lunch that parents may be dropping off for them at this time or any earlier time. Parents/Guardians are to organise to meet their child between the bus shed (closest shed to oval) and blue gym if they are dropping off lunch, where a teacher will be supervising.
  • Students should have a note for the teacher, informing of the time the parent will be dropping off lunch.

Inaugural Interhouse Novelty Event

The inaugural Interhouse Novelty Event, a three legged race, will be held during the lunch break.  Staff and students will complete the 15m course as many times as possible within the 4 minute time frame.  The house with the most laps/points will be awarded the Ribot and Howard Trophy.
