Assembly Notes

17/04/2013

This week on assembly, new Community Education Counsellor (CEC) Stacey Trindall was introduced to the student body of our school. Stacey is the permanent CEC and will hopefully enjoy her time working with Harristown students. Stacey is based in Y Block, the Languages and Cultures Community Centre.  She works Monday to Friday.  Her role is one of supporting Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Students.  Stacey comes to us with counselling qualifications, a rich background of experience and is known to many of our current students and their families.  As Stacey mentioned on assembly prior to acknowledging the local Aboriginal people, the Giabal and Jarowair Clans, she is a Mandandanji woman from the St George area. Mrs Priebe has returned from leave to resume her position as Deputy Principal for Dherwain House.

Mr Green’s Principal’s address was focused on the second Dimension of Learning, Acquiring and Integrating Knowledge. Mr Green explained the difference between declarative and procedural knowledge, with the help of Mr Forknall and Ms Monagle. As always, this week’s assembly was fun and I’m sure everybody walked away with a little more knowledge.
