School Vice-Captains' Speech

School Vice-Captains, Russell and Maddi, described the actions of those who served in the First World War.  “Many wars did indeed follow after the end of the First World War and while each and every war left a scar on Australia’s national psyche, none were more lasting, silent, and relentless than those scars left on the minds and hearts of the brave men and women who returned home. For those who sacrificed and for those that continue to sacrifice, lest we forget.”

Guest Speaker, Mr David Janetzki

Mr David Janetzki, the Member of Parliament for Toowoomba South and Shadow Attorney-General and Shadow Minister for Justice, focused his speech on post-traumatic stress disorders (PTSD).  He provided historical context for those who suffered ‘shell shock’ and reflected on the struggle facing our returned soldiers today.
